What Our Readers Think

Susan Jones- Teacher and grandmother. Twin Falls, Idaho

"I thoroughly enjoyed this book. June has done a wonderful job writing this story and making it so relevant to today's struggles in Ukraine. It tells the story in a way that both the young and the old can relate to it. The illustrations are both poignant and humorous. You really find yourself reading it over and over and discovering new things in the illustrations that make you ponder and then giggle. It is tryly a work of art. The dedication and desire to tell the story to support the women and children of Ukraine is very evident. It will be a treasured story and keepsake for all that read it. Thank you for a truly beautiful piece of work to support the cause of freedom for the country of Ukraine and their fight for survival.
"I really enjoyed the book with nice and funny pictures! Love the remake of the story! Impressed how the author showed the culture and traditions of Ukrainians! So much fun!

About The Author

Welcome and HELLO!

My name is June Kathryn Jones, and I am an American

mother of 5, the founder of  Women For Ukraine -

Жінки для України, an activist, humanitarian, and now

an author!

Women For Ukraine - Жінки для України's mission is

to bring awareness to the most critical issues facing

Ukrainian women in an active war zone through advocacy, actions, and diverse global relationships. Additionally, Women For Ukraine - Жінки для України is an organization that embraces and embodies a woman's strength and compassion and aims to provide additional programs, initiatives, and educational awareness rooted in and reflective of such characteristics.

Growing up in Idaho, with a family of educators and a grandpa who had a farm, having an imagination in our family was always supported and encouraged. My first experience with writing came when grandma let me take her old typewriter down into papa's pasture, where I would pretend to be a war correspondent by the big tree among the sheep. I have always been in love with writing, the fact that the right combination of words can invoke powerful emotions, inspire, or transport someone to the exact time and place you're describing is extremely powerful! I have always wanted to be an established writer, but life has been busy with five kiddos and living all over the world.

Empathy was taught to us at a young age, and I began studying the Holocaust. This led to many amazing opportunities and achievements in my life. Being a humanitarian at heart, I immediately got to work doing whatever I could to contribute medically and tactically to the Ukrainian people and their armed forces when the war broke out in Ukraine. That simple decision taken on February 24, 2022, has evolved into being the founder of an NGO organization, invitations to Washington D.C. and Brussels for advocacy and guest speaking, interviews and features by global publications, including Kyiv Independent and other media outlets, and collaborations with prominent international organizations. The friendships that have developed along the way have meant the most to me. I have met the most incredible, strong, inspiring, and brave individuals throughout these months who I am honored to call my lifelong friends.

With my love for writing, children, and the Ukrainian people, I am proud to introduce to you The Mighty U's of U-Ville. This reimagined classic is meant to celebrate the Ukrainian people's resilience and spirit and to honor their sacrifice for freedom while they continue to show us what it means to have strength of character and a brave heart. Not only is this a story the whole family will enjoy reading over and over again, but 75% of the proceeds from each book sold will be used to help Ukrainian women and children who have suffered various traumas due to the war and Ukrainians that have lost their limbs- children through the Olena Zelenska Foundation, Ukrainian women who have suffered sexual violence through my organization, Women For Ukraine - Жінки для України, and Ukrainians who have lost their limbs through the Superhumans Center.

Thank you so much! Slava Ukraine Слава Україні and Heroyam Slava Героям Слава!
